Going the extra mile
I got a call from Angela Salter, the accommodation manager at Oxford Tutorial College, to say that a student had not turned up for the exam and was possibly going to be late and be unable to take it. I was near the property he was living in, so I went and woke him up. He’d missed his alarm because his phone was set on silent! I got him to get dressed, gave him a Mars Bar and an energy drink for a makeshift breakfast, got him into my car and drove him to college. He made it with 15 minutes to spare. I calmed him down before the exam. He passed it and made it into University.
