As a parent with teenagers myself, I am well aware that when our children leave home to go and study we tend to worry about how they will settle in and how they will cope with their new surroundings and the demands of a college course.
These concerns only increase when our children move to a different country and start an adventure thousands of miles from home.
That’s why we work hard to create a ‘home from home’. We pride ourselves in getting to know our students and looking after their interests. We want to create a harmonious environment for people to learn. We aim to help them to get the most from their experience of studying in Oxford and we want to provide a stepping stone to give them independence before going on to University.
Everything we do is based around that objective. In short, you can trust us to look after your children while they are in Oxford and you can have peace of mind that they will be given the best accommodation possible outside of your own home.
Naturally your children’s safety is your top priority, especially when they are outside of your jurisdiction. We can assure you that their safety is also at the top of our list of priorities. Each of our properties is maintained to the highest standards and we have a full-time member of our team who is responsible for maintenance and safety. We are swift to act to carry out day-to-day maintenance such as changing light bulbs and even to tackle unusual incidents such as someone locking themselves in the toilet late at night! We have a dedicated telephone number for emergencies that is always on and always answered 24/7.
Each member of our team is also fully DBS checked to ensure their suitability for working with young people.
Our chef provides a variety of breakfast foods and delivers an evening meal to each of the properties. For weekends, she freshly prepares meals and freezes them; the students keep them in their freezers and help themselves if they are in the property over the weekend. She provides menus for three weeks’ worth of meals for each house and caters for all dietary requirements.
Setting minds at rest
A parent called me at 8 o'clock one evening worried about their daughter who had been overwhelmed with UKAS applications and apparently had not been going into college. I went round to see the girl and explained the importance of attending her college classes regularly and helped her to stop worrying about the UKAS applications. I was then able to call the parent back later to put their mind at rest.
Our properties are all high-end houses in desirable neighbourhoods in Oxford. They are furnished and decorated to the highest standard because we want to provide the best environment for our students. This is not typical student accommodation and we’re proud to stand out. Our properties have the ‘wow’ factor and our students’ living conditions are often the envy of their friends!
We extend that philosophy to our service, which we believe is second to none.
If you are visiting Oxford during July or August, why not book one of our properties as an alternative to a hotel or bed & breakfast? Read more...
